Questions to ask a dog walker

Agree routines, behaviour, group size, handover, weather limits and emergency contacts before a walk.

Describe your dog honestly

  • Age, size, health and usual exercise
  • Recall, lead behaviour and reactions to dogs, people or traffic
  • Medication or clinical needs that may require a different service
  • Any legal restriction or equipment requirement

Agree how the walk works

  • Solo or group walk and maximum group size
  • Duration, route, transport and off-lead permission
  • Heat, severe weather and cancellation limits
  • Key handling, collection and return evidence

Plan for an emergency

Give a reachable contact, the veterinary practice and clear authority for urgent decisions. A written care plan is more reliable than assumptions made at the door.
