Questions and answers
What JobTackl is, how it will work, what it costs, and what is and is not live yet. If something here is unclear or missing, tell us.
Launch and availability
When can I download JobTackl?
The apps are being prepared for release. Join early access and we will email the real App Store and Google Play links as soon as public downloads are ready.
Is JobTackl only available in Oxford?
No. JobTackl is being built for the whole United Kingdom. Oxford is where we are concentrating the first provider recruitment and community effort. People anywhere in the UK can join early access, but booking is not open yet.
What can I do on the site right now?
You can read how JobTackl works, browse the service categories, and join early access. Searching, listing and booking will open through the app when public downloads are ready.
Will there be an app?
Yes. App Store and Google Play links will appear on this site once the apps are published. We will not post links before they work.
The waitlist
What happens when I join the waitlist?
We record your email, whether you are a customer, a provider or both, and optionally your town and postcode area. We use that to tell you when JobTackl opens and to understand where demand and supply are building.
Why ask for a postcode area and not a full postcode?
A postcode area such as OX1 is enough to plan where to recruit providers. A full postcode identifies a household, and we do not need that to run a waitlist. We never ask for your full address at this stage.
Can I join as both a customer and a provider?
Yes — choose “Both” on the waitlist form. Plenty of people need help with some things and offer help with others.
For customers
What does it cost to use JobTackl?
You pay the provider’s price for the service, plus a 10% booking fee on top. The fee is shown before you confirm a booking — there is nothing added afterwards.
How much do services themselves cost?
Providers set their own prices within JobTackl’s published booking range, so the amount varies by category, job and provider. JobTackl does not choose or negotiate a provider’s price. Each provider sets out how they price before you book.
When am I charged, and when does the provider get paid?
JobTackl does not currently take booking payments. Under the proposed Stripe flow, you would pay when confirming a booking and provider access to the payment would be delayed.
The proposed flow would start release when you confirm completion or after a documented JobTackl support decision. Customer silence would never confirm completion or release payment automatically. The exact mechanism remains subject to Stripe confirmation.
What if I need to cancel?
Cancel more than 24 hours before the booking and you get a full refund.
Cancel within 24 hours and 50% of the service price is refunded. The other 50% goes to the provider as cancellation compensation, because they held the slot and likely turned down other work. The booking fee is not refunded in that case.
Full detail is in the Refund & Cancellation Policy.
What if the provider cancels?
You receive a full refund, including the booking fee, however late the cancellation comes. A provider cancelling is never your cost to bear.
What if the work is not done properly?
When booking opens, raise it with the provider first. The planned flow will allow an unresolved problem to be disputed before completion is confirmed. Final payment handling remains subject to Stripe confirmation. See Report a Problem.
Is my card stored by JobTackl?
JobTackl does not currently take booking payments. Stripe is the intended processor, and the planned design will send card details directly to Stripe rather than storing card numbers at JobTackl.
What is expected of me as a customer?
Accurate job descriptions, safe access, agreeing changes before they happen, and paying as agreed. The full expectations are in the Customer Standards.
For providers
What does it cost to list on JobTackl?
Nothing. Providers join free — no listing fee, no subscription — and no commission is deducted from your earnings at launch. The 10% booking fee is paid by the customer on top of your price.
Will that change later?
We may introduce optional paid features in future, such as enhanced tiers or featured listings. Anything of that kind will be published in advance, will not be applied retrospectively, and will not change the terms of a booking already made.
When do I get paid?
Under the proposed flow, the customer would pay at booking through Stripe. JobTackl would instruct the provider transfer when the customer confirms completion or after a documented JobTackl support decision. Customer silence would never trigger payment automatically. Release is the transfer instruction, not a promise that money has already reached your bank. This flow and its onboarding requirements remain subject to Stripe confirmation.
What happens if a customer cancels on me?
If they cancel within 24 hours of the booking, you receive 50% of the service price as cancellation compensation. Cancellations with more notice are refunded to the customer in full.
Do I need qualifications or insurance?
It depends on the category. Some work carries legal requirements, and some carries expectations such as a current DBS check where you work with children. These are set out in the Provider Standards.
Can I choose the area I cover?
Yes. You define your service area, and you are only shown to customers within it. You also set your own availability.
Will I get bookings straight away?
We cannot promise that, and we will not pretend otherwise. Demand builds at different rates in different places and categories. What we can say is that you will be discoverable to customers searching your area and category from launch.
Am I employed by JobTackl?
JobTackl is designed as a marketplace for genuinely independent providers who set their own prices, availability, service area and whether to accept work. The intended contract for a job is between you and the customer, and providers normally manage their own tax and National Insurance. Legal status depends on the real working relationship, not the label alone; the final model and terms require independent UK legal review before booking opens.
Who do I contact about my provider account?
providers@jobtackl.com for onboarding, verification and standards. For payouts and billing, accounts@jobtackl.com.
Trust, safety and data
Are providers checked?
Identity and relevant detail checks are being built into provider onboarding. They are not operational yet, because onboarding itself is not open. We describe what we are building on the Trust & Safety page rather than claiming checks that do not exist.
Is JobTackl responsible for the work?
JobTackl is being built as a marketplace, not a service company. Under the intended model, the contract for the work will be between the customer and provider. JobTackl will be responsible for the platform, its published standards, reports and dispute process—not for carrying out the job.
How do disputes work?
Under the proposed flow, raising a dispute before confirming completion would pause provider release. Both sides would be able to explain, JobTackl would review the platform record, and the supported outcome might include a full or partial refund. Exact payment handling remains subject to the final Stripe architecture. The planned steps are set out in the Refund & Cancellation Policy.
What do you do with my data?
Our intended approach is set out in the Privacy Policy. For any privacy request, email privacy@jobtackl.com.
Why are your policies marked as drafts?
Because they have not been through legal review yet. Publishing them as drafts is more honest than publishing nothing, or publishing them as though they were final. Each will be reviewed and approved before launch.
How do I delete my account and data?
Accounts do not exist yet, so there is nothing to delete today. Once accounts launch you will be able to start deletion from inside the app. That source flow is built, but accounts and the deletion service are not publicly operational until the apps and backend have passed production testing.
In the meantime, email privacy@jobtackl.com to have anything we hold removed, including a waitlist entry. Some records must be kept afterwards where the law requires it — see deleting your account.
Do you use cookies or tracking?
The current site sets no advertising or third-party analytics cookies. Optional first-party analytics is off by default and runs only after you allow it on the Privacy page. See the Cookie Policy.
