For providers

Provider Standards

What we ask of everyone listing services on JobTackl. These sit alongside the Community Guidelines and apply to every booking.

Takes effect at launch. Provider onboarding is not yet open, so no provider has been verified or accepted against these standards. They describe the standard from launch day.

Be who you say you are, only take work you are competent and permitted to do, price it clearly, turn up when you said you would, and treat customers and their homes with care.

1. Eligibility

  • You must be 18 or over.
  • You must be legally entitled to provide the services you list in the United Kingdom and keep that status current. We may ask for supporting evidence. Identity verification is not proof of immigration status or a statutory employer right-to-work check.
  • You must be able to complete identity verification during onboarding.
  • If you operate as a business, you are responsible for anyone you send to a job meeting these standards.

2. Verification and checks

Provider onboarding will require:

  • Identity verification for every provider account
  • Evidence of certification where a trade legally requires it
  • The appropriate current Enhanced DBS check before any permitted unsupervised work with a child. Childcare and vulnerable-adult care are not permitted at initial launch
  • At least £1 million of public liability insurance for in-person services, with higher cover where the category or risk requires it; and professional indemnity insurance for professional advice services

We record the insurer, cover level and expiry date and may require renewed evidence. Any badge will state the exact check and date rather than suggesting that a provider is fully vetted. False or altered evidence may lead to immediate restriction while we investigate and permanent removal.

3. Only take work you can do

Accept work you are competent, equipped, insured and legally permitted to carry out. Gas work, notifiable electrical work, structural work and the other prohibited high-risk categories in our Acceptable Use Policy are not available at initial launch, even where a provider holds a licence or qualification.

If a job turns out to be beyond what you agreed or can safely do, stop and say so. Referring a customer elsewhere is a better outcome than attempting work you should not.

4. Businesses, staff and substitutes

Every person attending a booking must have their own verified identity linked to the provider business, and the customer must be told who will attend. You may not send an undeclared or unverified substitute. Any replacement requires the customer’s agreement and must already be verified. The provider business remains responsible for its staff and substitutes; undeclared attendance may result in restriction of the whole business.

5. Accurate listings and pricing

  • Describe your services accurately, including what is not included.
  • Set out how you price — hourly, fixed, per visit — and what might change it.
  • State call-out charges, minimum charges and material costs before a booking, not after.
  • Keep your service area and availability up to date. Being listed for an area you do not cover wastes everyone’s time.
  • Use your own photographs of your own work. Do not use stock images or other people’s jobs as examples of yours.

6. Conduct on a job

  • Arrive when you said you would, or tell the customer as early as you can if you cannot.
  • Treat the property with care and leave it in a reasonable state.
  • Get agreement before doing work beyond what was booked, and before charging for it.
  • Respect privacy — you are in someone’s home. Do not go into areas unrelated to the job.
  • Never attend a booking impaired by alcohol or drugs.

7. Cancellations and no-shows

Cancel as early as possible if you cannot attend. Repeated late cancellations or failures to turn up will affect your standing on the platform and may lead to removal.

How cancellations affect payment is set out in the Refund & Cancellation Policy.

8. Payments

Take payment through JobTackl. Payments are processed by Stripe, and you will need to complete Stripe’s own onboarding to be paid.

The customer pays at booking. JobTackl instructs the provider transfer when the customer confirms completion, or automatically after 48 hours if no dispute has been raised. JobTackl is not a bank or escrow service, and “release” means that the transfer instruction has been made, not that money has reached the provider’s bank account. Joining is free and no commission is deducted from your earnings at launch.

Do not ask customers to pay by bank transfer, cash app or any other off-platform method. JobTackl may be unable to assist with an off-platform payment, and such requests are a common pattern in fraud. This does not limit anyone’s statutory rights.

You are responsible for your own tax and National Insurance. JobTackl does not deduct tax and is not your employer.

UK digital-platform reporting rules may require JobTackl to collect and verify seller information, including your legal name, address, date of birth, tax identification details and, for a business, registration details. We may report required identification, payment, fee and transaction information to HM Revenue & Customs and give you a copy of the annual information reported. You must keep these details accurate.

9. Reviews

  • Do not offer discounts, refunds or anything else in exchange for a review.
  • Do not pressure a customer to change or remove a review.
  • Respond to criticism professionally. A measured reply to a poor review reads better than an argument.
  • If a review is factually wrong or breaches our guidelines, report it rather than retaliating.

10. If standards are not met

We take a proportionate approach, as set out in the Community Guidelines: warnings, content removal, limits, suspension, or permanent removal. A credible concern involving safety, fraud or a child may result in immediate temporary restriction while we investigate and, where appropriate or legally required, a report to the police or another authority. Appeals follow the process in the Community Guidelines.
