Terms of Service

The terms on which JobTackl provides the marketplace to customers and providers. This is a working draft prepared for legal review.

Working draft — pending final founder review before publication. This document is not yet final and should not be relied on as a published policy.

JobTackl provides a marketplace. Providers are independent and contract directly with customers for the work itself. These terms cover your use of the platform — accounts, bookings, payments, conduct and liability — not the quality of any individual job.

1. About these terms

These terms form a contract between you and JobTackl governing your use of the JobTackl website and applications. By creating an account or using the platform, you accept them.

JobTackl is operated by JOBTACKL LTD, company number 17372765, whose registered office is John Eccles House, Robert Robinson Avenue, Oxford, England, OX4 4GP.

They should be read alongside the Privacy Policy, the Acceptable Use Policy, the Refund & Cancellation Policy, and the standards pages for providers and customers.

2. What JobTackl is — and is not

JobTackl is a marketplace. We do not provide the services listed on it.

  • Providers are independent. They are not our employees, workers, agents or subcontractors.
  • When a booking is made, the contract for the work is between the customer and the provider. JobTackl is not a party to it.
  • We do not supervise, direct or control how a provider carries out work.
  • We do not guarantee the quality, safety or legality of any service, or that any provider will accept a booking.
  • We are not an insurer, a licensing body, or an employment agency.

What we are responsible for is operating the platform, applying our standards, and handling reports — set out on the Trust & Safety page.

3. Eligibility and accounts

  • You must be 18 or over.
  • You must provide accurate information and keep it up to date.
  • One account per person or business. Do not share credentials.
  • You are responsible for activity under your account. Tell us promptly if you believe it has been compromised.
  • Providers must complete verification before listing services, and must hold any certification the law requires for their work.

4. Bookings

A customer requests a booking; a provider accepts it. The contract for the work forms at acceptance, between those two parties, on the scope and price agreed through the platform.

  • Scope and price must be agreed before work begins. Additional work must be agreed separately.
  • Providers set their own prices. JobTackl does not set, cap or negotiate them.
  • Arrange and communicate through the platform. Taking a booking off-platform removes the record needed to resolve disputes and may result in account action.

5. Payments and fees

Payments are processed by Stripe. Using the platform to pay or be paid means also accepting Stripe’s terms. JobTackl does not store card numbers.

JobTackl facilitates payment, instructs provider transfers and applies refunds or dispute outcomes under these terms. We do not provide banking services and neither JobTackl nor Stripe holds customer money in escrow. We do not describe JobTackl as a provider's payment agent unless that regulatory position is confirmed for the final Stripe Connect implementation.

How a payment moves

  1. The customer pays securely at the point of booking.
  2. The provider transfer is not initiated immediately; JobTackl controls release under the rules below.
  3. The customer confirms completion, which releases payment to the provider.
  4. If no dispute has been raised, payment releases automatically 48 hours after the scheduled completion time.

A release means that JobTackl instructs Stripe to make the provider transfer; it does not mean the money has already reached the provider's bank. Stripe's processing schedule, verification requirements, weekends and the receiving bank control arrival time. Providers can view the expected payout date through Stripe. We do not promise instant or guaranteed bank arrival.

Fees at launch

  • Providers join free. There is no listing fee and no subscription to join.
  • No commission is deducted from provider earnings at launch.
  • Customers pay a 10% booking fee on top of the service price, shown before the booking is confirmed.

We may introduce optional paid features in future — for example enhanced provider tiers or featured listings. Any such change will be published in advance, will not be applied retrospectively, and will not alter the terms of a booking already made.

Provider obligations

  • Providers are responsible for their own tax and National Insurance. JobTackl does not deduct tax and is not your employer.
  • Providers must complete Stripe onboarding, including identity checks Stripe requires, to receive payouts.
  • We may withhold a payout while investigating a report of fraud or a serious breach.

6. Cancellations, refunds and disputes

Full arrangements are set out in the Refund & Cancellation Policy, which forms part of these terms. In summary:

  • Customer cancels more than 24 hours before the booking — full refund.
  • Customer cancels within 24 hours — 50% of the service price refunded, 50% paid to the provider as cancellation compensation, booking fee non-refundable.
  • Provider cancels — full refund to the customer.
  • Disputes are managed through JobTackl’s dispute process.

Raising a dispute before confirming completion holds the funds while we review it. Nothing in this policy removes a consumer’s statutory rights.

7. Reviews and content

You keep ownership of content you post. You grant JobTackl a non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to host and display it for the purpose of operating and promoting the platform.

  • Reviews must relate to a real booking and be honest.
  • We may remove content breaching the Acceptable Use Policy.
  • We do not edit reviews to make providers look better. We remove reviews that break the rules.

8. Your conduct

You must comply with the Acceptable Use Policy, the Community Guidelines and the standards applicable to your role. Breach may lead to warnings, content removal, suspension or permanent removal.

9. Platform availability

We aim to keep JobTackl available but do not guarantee uninterrupted access. We may suspend the service for maintenance, security or legal reasons, and will give notice where reasonably possible. Features may change as the product develops.

10. Liability

Nothing in these terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or anything else that cannot lawfully be limited.

Subject to that:

  • JobTackl is not liable for the acts or omissions of a provider or a customer, or for the quality, safety or outcome of any work.
  • We are not liable for loss arising from a booking arranged off-platform.
  • We are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, or for loss of profit, business or anticipated savings.

We do not apply an arbitrary monetary cap to consumer claims. If you are a consumer, nothing here affects your statutory rights, including rights against the provider who carried out the work. Refunds or other sums properly owed are not excluded by this section.

A monetary cap for claims by providers or other business users will be introduced only after appropriate marketplace insurance is in place and the wording has received legal review. Until then, these terms do not claim that any liability limit is insurance-backed.

11. Disputes between customers and providers

Because the contract for the work is between customer and provider, disputes about a job are primarily between them. We will help: we can review platform records, mediate, and act on an account’s standing. We cannot compel either party to accept an outcome, and we are not an arbitrator.

12. Suspension and termination

You may close your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate access if you breach these terms or our policies, if we are legally required to, or if we reasonably believe it is necessary to protect users.

Where practical, and unless doing so would be unsafe or unlawful, we will tell you why and give you a route to challenge it.

13. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms as the platform develops. We will give at least 30 days' notice by email and through the app before a material change takes effect. Continuing to use JobTackl after a change takes effect means accepting the updated terms.

A change required urgently for law, security, fraud prevention or to correct an obvious error may take effect sooner; we will explain why. A change will not retrospectively alter a confirmed booking. If you do not accept a material change, you may close your account before it takes effect, while completing obligations already incurred.

15. Governing law

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction. If you live in Scotland or Northern Ireland, you may bring proceedings in your local courts. Nothing here removes mandatory consumer protections available where you live.

To confirm before publication

These details are deliberately left out of the draft rather than guessed. They must be supplied and checked before this document goes live.

  • Independent UK legal review of the complete terms before marketplace trading begins
  • Regulatory review of the final Stripe Connect implementation and JobTackl’s payment-facilitation role
  • Final business-user liability cap after appropriate marketplace insurance is in place
